  • Take confidence

Not in our abilities but in whom we are in Christ.

When Israel sent spies into the promise land they came back and said they were in their own sight as grasshoppers, and that they appeared to those in the land as grasshoppers. They had previously saw God do all types of miracles, but yet they had doubt. The doubt they had was not in God’s ability, but in their own selves. God did all those powerful miracles before them, which built great faith in the power of God, but none within their selves.

It seems at times God allows us to battle each step we take instead of Him just simply doing it all; I believe it is to help us develop confidence in who we are in Christ. We have to loose confidence in our flesh and build confidence in who we are because of the Spirit within.

We all have helped out a child and as we did we didn’t just do it all but through it helped the child to develop confidence within. God on the other hand does basically the same thing, but helps us to have confidence in who we are because of the Spirit of God within us. Php_4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Mar_9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

  • Sometimes confidence in who we are in spiritual things can cause spiritual pride to build up.  We need to give all the glory to God and stay humble.
    Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  • Amen Lewis…..And I so agree with Liz…She stated it perfectly…..

  • @TexasWoman59 - Agreed Liz, with every thanksgiving it keeps pride away, and allows us to grow in confidence. But without confidence in who we are in Christ we as Israel will know God can do all things but fear when we are asked to enter into the promise land.

  • Exactly Lewis….There is a statement that I’ve heard many, many times…Pride comes before the fall…..

We must humble ourselves before the Lord always…..Focus upon Him……

  • @ellie1945 - I have found those with pride take it in more of what they know than what God can do through them. Our confidence should be in our abilities for who we are in God. Isreal knew God could do all things, but they feared entering into the promise land because they had no confidence in who they were, the chosen of God.

  • There seems to be people (Preachers) just because something mighty happens they get on their high place and say look at me I am someone special, because this has happened in my ministry etc. Who gave you the ministry in the first place? Thanks for this Bro. Lewis. Bro. Doc

  • @ellie1945 - Spiritual pride is not the same kind of pride that puggs us up.  It is hte kind that takes God’s glory and makes it our own, when all glory is his as well aaas honor..

  • @BroDoc - Thank you Bro Doc, I am sure there have been several who have been lifted up in pride, but as the word tells us God will not tempt us so their sucess has been their own doing and not God’s.

  • Does any one else have to scroll back and forth on my page? When I read my page I do not have to scroll but one of my friend’s has to.

  • good post gbu love bobbie

  • I was meditating on that verse today…….I thank the Lord for letting me lean on him.

  • @edsgirl12 - Thank you Bobbie!

  • @alterb4ego - It is easy for us to know God can do all things, but it is much harder to know that God can do through us just like he did Jesus, that is where our confidence has to grow.

Joh_14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

  • Yes, thanks!

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

  • @Lewis1122 - Just give her the info I gave you, then she shouldn’t have to….

  • @Evangelist_Guy - Thanks Bro Pete, that is a great Isaiah verse.
