Study the word
To me these verses show a pattern. We must eat (read the word) to stay alive, and it is through the word we are given strength to fight our enemy. Those not of flesh and blood.
1Pe_2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Rom_10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Heb_11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Pro 24:3Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established: 4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Eph_6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Heb_4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Col_2:19 … which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Pro_11:9 … but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
2Pe_1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe_2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
Mat 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Amen Lewis! I so agree with what you say here…..
@ellie1945 - Amen Ellie, we are to study the word. Thank you.
The Catholics have a custom like the Jews and Muslims to pray from the Bible five times a day. It’s called The Liturgy of the Hours and is the official prayer of the Church.
In the Book of Acts, there are references to the Apostles keeping the “hours” by praying.
I wonder how many would be alive if they ate as much as they studied the Word Bro. Lewis Bro. Doc
I began reading the Bible for myself so no man could mislead me about the Lord……..amen…….good post Lewis!
@alterb4ego - That is what we should do.
This is a good post and it woulld help if many others would study for themselves instead of listening to others.
Wonderful post, Lewis! I always learn a new bible verse when I visit your page, and I love that about you!
@alterb4ego - This is what I have committed myself to doing as well. I spent so long as a blind person being led by other blind people. Now I am blessed to have my eyes opened to God’s Word!
@BroDoc - Good point! “Man does not live on bread alone…”!
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - That is great Bro Billy, by spending time in the word we are blessed.
@BroDoc - That is sad and true Bro Doc. They want the promises of the word but want it without reaching for it.
@alterb4ego - Thank you Crystal! My wife and I also spend the time in the word, that is how we grow through time in the word.
@TexasWoman59 - I agree Liz, we must have our own relationship wiht the Lord, for each of us must be dependent upon God.
@fruit_snacks_galore - Thank you! It is strength building as we see those verses we can stand stronger upon them.
@Lewis1122 - There is a rumor out there that the Catholic Church does not love the Bible. In fact the Catholic Church LOVES the Bible.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - The Catholic friends I have met all loved the word of God, I cant imagine a church could have ever grown without that love for it.
~*Amen*~
