Target the poor
Why is it the programs that help the poor the needy and the elderly are always the preferred target? We give billions to foreign countries who really don’t like us. We spend billions on a military so we can police a world which in many cases hates us. Yet we cannot stop over twenty million illegal from living in America.
Wondering how these people become politicians?
The GOP budget proposal, similar to previous plans offered by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., demonstrates that it’s possible, at least mathematically, to balance the budget within a decade without raising taxes. But to do so Ryan, his party’s vice presidential nominee last year, assumes deep cuts that would force millions from programs for the poor like food stamps and Medicaid and cut almost 20 percent from domestic agency budget levels assumed less than two years ago.

Jas_2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you…
Psa_37:14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy…
Pro 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

Government poverty programs are accomplished by transferring wealth from those who earned it, to those who did not earn it.
By definition that is stealing.
Since government poverty programs are stealing, they are immoral. Using immoral means to accomplish good is likewise, immoral.
It’s like you going out and robbing someone so you can help someone in need.
If you tried to do that you would be arrested and thrown in jail. Yet you and millions like you advocate crime as the funding mechanism for helping people in need.
Do you also see corporate welfare as stealing? We give huge tax breaks to the oil companies; we bailed out the banks that almost brought our financial collapse, while the individuals got bonuses from the bailouts. Does not sewer run down hill, is not the problem started from top working down, the natural flow? The natural growth is from small to big. Just like Germany you convince people hard enough in believing who the enemy is and you loose compassion for them. When it goes against the natural order odds are it is wrong.
These politicians get elected because they have money to get their name recognition……and they have money to do that because of the lobbyists who work for big corporations……..I have known for some time now that the NWO is being built inside corporate boardrooms and politicians are there and elected or unelected merely to get us to think we have some kind of say in things so we don’t toss the whole lot of them out……..politicians are bought by rich people……and rich people are outsourcing to communist China for good jobs and helping to create the poor……..I could go on all day about how the love of the almighty dollar is tearing this country down……..when rich people think about the state of the “economy” they don’t care about main street. If wall street is doing good, they are happy.
Wow Lewis, seems like you hit a sore spot, lol!!
Though at one time we did, spend billions for military, there has been a huge cut-back…..The President said he would be sending our Soldiers home from Iraq and Iran….And yet, when he pulled them out of those two countries, he sent them, not home, but to Afghanistan……And now? Guess who’s giving our President chilled looks? Can’t blame them really, can you?
The Poor and needy in our Country, are rising…..Jobs are limited now, very limited…..Hum? Billy Bob? Is that what you go by? At one time, just a few years ago, we had people on Welfare, that DIDN’T work, who were too lazy to find a job, and millions of them were/are druggies…..Let’s fast forward now…..To the economy crash….
Jobs were lost….People who had been working for years, lost their jobs…..They owned homes, children were grown, and out of the home….One person in that home, may still be working, and they are able to still care for themselves……Then there are those, who both have lost their jobs…..How are they going to pay their bills? You guessed it, if you say retirement funds…..Soon, those funds are gone…..They can no longer pay their bills, or buy food….Thank God, that there are people who donate food to the food banks in their areas…..What about the families with Children?
One lost his/her job….The money coming in is not enough to pay bills, and buy food, or even pay for Dr.’s or Dentist….What then? Again thank God that there are people who donate to food banks…..But…..Then it gets worse…..Both have lost their jobs, they are in the process of loosing their homes, because they missed a mortgage payment…..No food, no heat, no water…..And they are about ready to be evicted…..What do you say then? I say, thank God for State Welfare and Medicaid…..Those people are in need, they are trying to find work….Some jobs have opened up, but not near enough…..
Here in Nebraska, we don’t mind helping those who are truly in need, and doing everything they can to find work, follow the instructions given to them from Welfare….Attending classes, that the Welfare requires, etc….Nebraska is trying to find away, to block any help given to Illegal Immigrants….
The Welfare HAS been working too….At weeding out those who are too lazy, or too doped up, to even think of working….Those people are a minority now…..They will wake up, sooner than they expect…..
Yes, there are those who are bleeding the welfare for all they can get….That’s a part of life…..But now, there are many more people who wish they could work, and get out of this situation……I feel for these people….I do hope that they will again be able to find work, and support their families once more…..I even pray that jobs open up for them…..Sorry Lewis for sounding off here….
The vast majority of actions taken by the government should be ceased.
Did you notice how the article didn’t actually bother to say how much is cut or how it’s cut? The democrat-led Senate did vote to cut 5% in domestic spending as well. After four years, the Senate is finally actually going to hold a debate on the budget (none of these issues would really be issues for the GOP to jump on had the dems done their jobs) that increases the defecit even more.
This isn’t a partisan issue in the least, and making it out to be one is disingenuous.
It’s a systematic problem led by all in Washington and neither party is immune from responsibility.
@alterb4ego - Very good Crystal, I totally agree!
@ellie1945 - Very good Ellie! I believe blood tests to weed out the drug and alcohol abusers off the system. In our neighborhood several houses have been lost, they have set vacant for a few years and now sell for very cheap lowering the house values. Yet here our taxes are still the same and not calcualted according to the true value.
@blonde_apocalypse - I totally agree!!!! We the people are taxed without true representation, time for a true tea party.
@grim_truth -I agree both sides have sold out the American citizen to the highest bidder. When what the citizens want no longer matter those representing the people must have ulterior motives. They allow illegals to remain in the country just to keep an underpaid work force. Those same illegals are having at tax payer expense children which are now citizens because they are born here. I heard a politician declare we must not allow our military to shrink because China is growing and becoming a threat. Because we out source our work to China they are using our money to build their military to become a threat. Then our politicians want the same citizens which are loosing their jobs because of out sourcing to take cuts in any kind of assistance to maintain a growing military. Create the problem then offer the solution at a price, mind boggling.
@Lewis1122 - Back a few, just couldn’t stay away, lol! I believe too….That both sides have sold out…..Completely…..
I have always believed that we as Christians should help the poor, but I also believe that we should do it freely and generously. Increasing taxes to give money away to welfare recipients isn’t giving freely. It’s force, which goes against everything I believe in. I give to charity and tithe to my church because God has put it on my heart to do so. I pay taxes to stay out of jail. So which would you consider the more generous action?
No matter what the government is doing, God still calls us to help those who are less fortunate than we are.
@ellie1945 - Agreed Ellie!
@fruit_snacks_galore - I too give freely, and I pay my taxes because we are told to obey mans laws. I think the part that bothers me the worst is the fact that we can send money all over the world, support finacially wars all over the world but complain about the poor and needy here. My personal belief is before any American give up anything, take first from foreign support. Bring our troops home protect our borders and make fair trade fair, we spend a dollar they spend a dollar. Thank you for the visit and the comment.
@Lewis1122 - indeed. The simple focus should be on keeping jobs in America. Then, the social progams wouldn’t be needed as much, therefore, essentially, cutting themselves.
@Lewis1122 - I think you are right about that. It is very important that American taxes pay for American problems. While I applaud International charities that help children and disaster victims in other countries, I do think that it is not the USA’s job to tax its citizens and send all of that money away.
@grim_truth - AGREED!!!! Is that scary to know it is that simple and yet for some reason our politicans can’t see it?
@fruit_snacks_galore - Very true! We try to save a world that dont want saving at our expense. I read the other day Iraq is actually becoming more of a friend to Iran now and less of one to us. We spent over a trillion dollars to free Iraq, and now they help Iran smuggle oil out against our embargo.
@Lewis1122 - Corporate welfare is horrific. The purpose of welfare is not to help the poor, its purpose is to buy their votes.
Corporate welfare buys campaign contribution.
The entire mess is nothing more than organized crime.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - Thats it Bro Billy! Just like the ilegal immgrant problem, they dont want to loose their vote. The politicians are not out for the people, but out for their selves at the expense of the people.
@Lewis1122 - Nevertheless, politicians are all duly chosen by The People, who have outsourced their Christian duty to the government.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - I agree about the welfare system – it doesn’t really help the poor get back on their feet because all it does is make them more reliant on the government for livelihood. It’s a psychological leash that only exacerbate the discrepancy between the poor and the rich. After a few decades of this type of system implemented in US, it becomes rooted as a lifestyle. Now even if we want to do something about it, the roots are so steep into the ground that it becomes quite difficult to kick those on welfare awake.
But US is currently infiltrated with the “cheating culture,” so even though those that are on welfare and don’t really need it are cheating other tax payers’ money, they only look to the rich and say “They’re doing it too,” to justify their actions.
It might take another great depression to awaken the world to stop those immoral actions. And most definitely, materialism needs to go!
@Tooty_fruits - The principle of self-interest is at work here too.
Politicians have devised the welfare system not to help the poor but to create a whole class of depend people who will always vote for them.
What helps poor people are jobs. The government can’t provide them. Only a rampaging free market can do that.
@Tooty_fruits - I agree, the system is broke and tends to imprison instead of help one to overcome dependency. You are right, the problem is they do easily justify it because the rich are doing the same thing but at a much higher profit.
These times have been very tough on many people. I see more walking and more living with another family and so on
@eshunt@revelife - I agree Bro Hunt it has been very hard on the working class, in our neighborhood you should see the foreclosed homes. Many people lived paycheck to paycheck, and once their job slowed down they started going in the hole.
The homes around us lost a lot of value in these few years. Just now, in these few months the prices are rising again, but there are still foreclosures pending as well. Fortunately, I am not in financial trouble. My son entered private school… tell you why — the kids are too depressed or angry. It was making him feel down and stressed at school. The new school has small classes and they kids are not stressed out. He changed overnight! He’s happy again and peaceful.
I will say this Bro. Lewis, we have it all backwards. Bro. Doc
@eshunt@revelife - I am a firm believer in private schools, to much bad influence in public schools. My mom is thinking about selling her house to move into a retirment apartment, we discovered her house value isnt nearly what she is paying taxes on.
@BroDoc - I agree Bro Doc, evil is rewarded and good is cast aside, the carnal man thrives in society today. Thank you!
This reminds me of something I read Friday. A college student was expelled from college. What was his crime? HE WOULD NOT STOMP ON THE SCRIPTURES.We sure do have thinks backwards. Bro. Doc
@BroDoc - When they expell you for not stomping the scriptures, you would be foolish to go there in the first place.
poor people always suffer and i dont think that will ever change thats all i have to say about that gbu all
I read, but not interested in politics.
@edsgirl12 - Thats true, and the word tells us those that cause the suffering will reap what they have sown. Thank you!
@TexasWoman59 - I am not either Liz, but I am interested in the affects it has on the people. We must see the suffering of the people to be able to see the affects of carnal mans ways. Those in authority ove rus reflect the masses around us, when we have bad polticians it is because we have bad people.
I don’t get why we take from our people to pay for other countries,
probably more to do with greed… as in helping their economy off the backs of
our people. I understand pledge drives and asking other to donate to natural tragedies
but disagree using our tax dollars at the expense of our own. Even when Columbus
came to America the Indians cut them off when they started to take up all their
resources, which caused anger in early settlers. I don’t agree sacrificing our
children, elderly, and disabled to prop up negotiations and earning opportunities
with or for other countries. And yes, I am angry at times that I need to teach
my children on the side because public schools are not capable, are more about
test prepping, and concerned with how to gain more money than what is best for
our children or actually preparing them for the future.
@Growedup - It’s all about GREED Bev. We help out other countries just so we can use them, and not for the average American. It is our filthy rich that get the benifits not the working American. Sending jobs over seas is great to force those countries to manipulate them, but it has finacially bankrupt America. We used a trillion dollars to fight Iraq, and now Iraq is helping Iran avoid our sanctions. But helping Iraq did force more money int the hands of the military, which goes to those that produce the weapons.
Our future has been sold out, and as we learn the hard way we shall reap what we have sown. Right now we have I think I read the other day spent hundreds of billions in our war in Afghanistan. What most have forgot is Afghanistan was destroyed as we used them to fight Russia when they first tried to stop Afghanistan. We actually created Bin Laden during that time, and supplied his with weapons. We paid to create the mess, and now we pay to try and clean it up.
