  • Commands

When I was a child my dad would tell us what not to do, more like advice and less like commands. My dad knew his children were extremely rebellious and if he gave us a command we would go out of our way to break them. So he would give us commands in the form of advice, and for the most part our rebellious spirit didn’t cause us to go against his advice. There were occasions the temptation to do what he advised us not to do was overwhelming. Not because of a rebellious spirit but because it seemed like something fun to do. A few times of discovering the reason dad advised us not to do certain things by the pain they caused, we soon learned to trust what he advised.

God through the Spirit gives us many commands, when we accept that they are good advice to prevent us from pain, it makes obedience much easier. There are parents that give rules to their children to make their own lives easier, but God gives us rules to make our life easier.

  • Amen Lewis!  So very true…..

  • @ellie1945 - Thank you Ellie!

  • You know Bro. Lewis, Yahvah never forces us to do anything. We can or can not do them. But if we go against His Laws in the end we pay for it. Bro. Doc

  • @BroDoc - Agreed Bro Doc, his commands are for our good, if we listen. Thank you!

  • Lewis, again, I see this differently. God gave us laws because we are sinners. We can’t obey them because we are sinners. Some people can’t even agree that there is a God. That’s how confusing life here really is. Thanks for your blogs today.

  • @eshunt@revelife - Bro Hunt we do see it differently, but please feel free to always share even if we disagree. I believe as the Spirit teaches us rules we are held responsible for following those rules, as the word tells us we shall reap what we sow.

Gal_5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Rom_8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom_8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
