  • Snow storm 13

In our city in Missouri we have about five inches of snow right now, 10-13 inch possible. 17 degrees with a wind chill of 7. Our airport is shut down and the freeways have one working lane. The news is advising people to stay home unless it is an emergency. But we know people; they are why the freeway only have one lane all the stalled cars are setting in the other three lanes. LOL It hadn’t snowed like this for many years, the moisture is truly appreciated. Snow is actually better than rain, as it melts slowly there is less run off.

  • AH!!!! is it a soup or chili day? We are suppose to get the tail end of this by evening… sigh… I do hope it fizzles out before reaching us… or blows east/west of us! lol… what will be will be… Are you going out to make snow angels later? lol :) if so, make one for me! lol… rather – better yet, I might be making them myself! lol… be safe and stay in!

  • It’s raining pretty good here…….water standing everywhere…….but that’s better than ice.

  • @Sisterinchrst - I will stay in, until it quits then go and shovel a couple of elderly womens drives. I have found it makes some elderly worry when they think they are blocked in by snow. I made a big pot of shepeherds pie yesterday, we will be eating it today also. It is also lightening and thundering, while snowing. LOL

  • @alterb4ego - Agreed, would rather have rain then ice, glad to get the moisture we are like 15 inches of rainfall short from last yr. I do love the looks of the snow, everything looks so clean. When the storm first approched they were prediciting major ice storm, but we didnt get any of that at all. God actually protected many it didnt start snowing until after morning rush hour.

  • When we get a storm like you describe the State of Delaware declares a State of Emergency. Only emergency workers are allowed on the roads — are they will stop people and check them out too.

We’ve had virtually NO SNOW here though this season.

    Enjoy your day!

  • @eshunt@revelife - I just heard news state they were having problems getting their crews around because of those stuck on the road. We hadn’t had this kind of snow for a few years. When I was a kid this was very common, now it is considered extreme, weather has changed.

  • Well Lewis, it seems that we’re under the same storm….We weren’t supposed to get the snow until this afternoon…It started before 8 this morning….It’s cold, wind chill at 8 this morning was something like 10 degrees….

We’re told that the heaviest of the snow fall will start around 2 and last through the night….So how come it’s hard to see outside now….Can barely see the houses across the street from my office window, lol!!

I’m thinking that we’ll get more snow than they finally figured on….By Friday morning we were supposed to have 10.3 inches (They decided to go with the RPM readings)….But, GFS stated we’d get 17.1 inchs, and the NAM said we’d get 18.3…..If it had started this afternoon, like it was forecast, then I would have agreed, just a little over 10 inches…. Now?  I’m sure it’ll be more like 18 + inches….

  • @eshunt@revelife - That’s how it was in Nebraska last year….Absolutely nothing white at all, and the year before, so little that, really, it wasn’t measurable….We’re sure making up for it now, lol!!

  • @ellie1945 - It is snowing small flakes but so hard that we have white out conditions, it looks like a cloud when looking out the window. It has been snowing fast here for several hours now, it is adding up quick, not for sure the exact amount we have. 18 inches would be a huge snow fall, that is where those big 4×4 trucks are actually needed.

    Have a great day Ellie

  • @ellie1945 - I wonder why they will not accept global warming, even I can tell something is different about the weather. LOL

  • @Lewis1122 - You have the small flakes too huh?  And hard to see….Everything is all but shut down in the State…State employees are off today, along with the county….And they’ve asked for everyone to stay off the road, unless they really need to travel, and then to make sure they have emergency kits, in case they get stuck….They said that approximately 2 inches will fall every hour…. And…They storm came in from the South….Any snow from the South is bad….If it had come in from the North, no one would have worried….Gary doesn’t remember it coming in from the South before, and he’s lived here in Nebraska, most of his life, and in this very area…..He forgot about the storm that came from the South, just before we got married….We were snow bound for several days (We lived in DeWitt)…..This is so not good, but I’m loving it….We need the moisture it’s leaving behind….Were under severe drought here, and they say it’ll help, but not much……

  • Oh, they’re accepting it Lewis, they talk about it constantly…But….They don’t want us to know about it, or accept it, lol!!  And yeah, I believe it’s global warming too….Weather has been crazy lately….A whole lot crazy!!

  • @ellie1945 - We too are in the sever drought, so the snow is a great thing because it will realse its mositure slowly and not run off. Politicians and the wealthy use the media to control the way people think, and the rich dont want people to relate greed and global warming because then even unbelievers will be able to see greed as the horrible disease it is.

  • @Lewis1122 - So very true my friend…

  • I’m glad to see seasonable moisture return to our weather. The hot, drought-plagued summers are very difficult.

  • @PlatotheSmurf - Agreed this will help the mositure level alot. I made some rain barrels I will set out to catch rain this summer for my gardens; last year watering the garden with the water hose didnt help much.

  • State of emergency once again declared for Missouri, they are expecting 8-16 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. We got ten inches in the last snow fall, some of it has melted, perhaps only 5 inches still on the ground.

  • I just saw this on TV. Wow… another dumper!
Hang out with the Lord and God Bless!
    Hunt

  • @eshunt@revelife - We got between 8-10 more inches, but the temp is just above freezing so some of it is melting. Thank God it didnt get as cold as they thought it was going to last night, so most of it was just rain.
