  • A word that hurts

Before change comes before repentance is accepted one must acknowledge they are doing wrong. As that famous saying goes the first step is acknowledging there is a problem. As my wife and I were doing our house cleaning this morning this came to my mind, so I wanted to share it.

How can so many be against so much and yet be part of the problem?

When we become desensitized to sin we allow it to grow, because it no longer offends us, when we participate in that sin we encourage it to grow.

How many of us have seen these poor people that have lost all through gambling, and yet we gamble, a lotto ticket or just a quick visit to the gambling casinos. Do we watch those shows that should not be watched, such as Ellen and yet we know by the word homosexuality is evil? When we watch those shows which should not be watched we are becoming desensitized and encouraging that sin to grow. If we don’t accept our blame we will NEVER grow, we will continue being lukewarm and as the word tells us, we will be spit out. Do we wonder as if some strange thing happens when our children act out; do we not accept the blame? Children act according to the examples set in their life, by those examples the friends they will make will feed into them even more, of good or evil.

Little compromises are magnified in the world and through the eyes of others, let us cast off all appearance of evil.

“A path led is one more easily followed by another, to life or death”.

  • Adding to the word

Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. : 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

This is my view, something to think about.

    1 God formed man

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground…

2 God gives man his commandment

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

3 God creates woman out of man

Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

    4 Serpent tempts Eve

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 3 (Then Eve said) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

What I want to share is how Eve stated neither shall ye touch it. When we review the commandment we do not read God telling Adam not to touch it, but just not to eat it. My view is that Adam added to God’s word when he instructed Eve, he added nor touch it for extra caution. The word tells us that Eve took the forbidden fruit in her hand, perhaps which was her greatest challenge, to touch it. Once she realized she didn’t die from touching it, the eating of it had no more of a threat? The word of God being weakened by man adding to the commandment of God.

Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
