Immigration costing us

The federal government spent $18 billion last year on immigration enforcement, more than the combined spending of the rest of the federal government’s law enforcement agencies over the same period.
The $18 billion immigration price tag is larger than spending on the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals Service and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives combined, according to the new report from the Migration Policy Institute think tank.
Spending on immigration enforcement, which includes everything from screening visitors to the United States to deportations, has increased 15-fold since 1986, when President Ronald Reagan signed a bill into law that legalized 3 million immigrants and for the first time required employers to verify their employees’ immigration status. Though the law attempted to stop illegal immigration from the Southern border, the waves of migration continued, peaking in 2000 at 1.7 million border apprehensions. Since 2005, the number of Border Patrol agents has doubled, and deportations have increased.

Until they put up a real fence with no political correctness behind it, I’m afraid this will continue to go on………I think the e-verify program should be used by every employer and then it might put a halt to some of it.
You know Bro. Lewis none of these programs are working for illegals, because they never really go to court. And e-verifying people will not work, because lots of people will not use it. And it is a waste so spend this money when the Gov. is not really trying to send them home. Bro. Doc
@alterb4ego - Did you know Crystal before the INS can check a company if they have illegals it is a law they have to give 24-48 hour notice? When the fines they are charged are less than the profits they can make they have no incentive to stop hiring them. An illegal can come here get a job get free health care and have a child here making the child a legal citizen because it is born here. When we reward bad behaviour it encourages more bad behaviour. Reagan gave them free amnesty which encouraged more to come in. Now Obama has given free amnesty to those illegals which go to school here.
@BroDoc - Here in my city Bro Doc to get a job they require a coply of diploma or equivalent and drivers liscense, that stops illegals. If they would simply fine companies a larger amount and not give them a notice in advance they are going to be raided the problem would be solved. Illegals come because they are rewarded, remove the rewards.
Did you hear the latest Lewis? President Obama is planning to let those, who are illegal, and married, become legal? That is, if they’re married to an legal immigrant or an American Citizen.
I believe that happened once before, under Bill Clinton…..
I hadnt heard that, keep rewarding wrong and it will entice it to get worse. I wonder if we should reward other criminals?
